Another eternal question…

Arts ,filmpro lates diary
February 2015

After a long  break festive break we threw ourselves into deep water with one of these questions where you’d be fooled to think you’ve found the ultimate answer!

Is it art? Is it not? Based on what and …says who?! I decided to look it up and I found this: “ART =The expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power”. Not  a bad start. Something was missing though…. for instance, the experience, complemented with a smile or a frown and the list goes on.

As producer/curator, there is an expectation or  responsibility to define art. I have no valid definition to suggest. But here’s my take on it: ‘art’  or ‘arts’ is my ticket to discover new places and people, unleash ideas, challenge me, challenge you, think, forget, keep body ‘n’ mind in action. Can I keep it like that?!

Speaking of new ideas, at February’s filmpro lates we discovered that the space can host live art, active and meditiative performances, music and songs from performers and audiences alike!

But our digital toy of the week was live streaming! After exciting experimentation with Caglar K and Juan S on Thursday 5th February the event could be watched live through this link. Well, it wasn’t perfect, but that’s the good news – we can keep exploring it!
